Alabama Auto Manufacturers Association Quarterly Meeting

On February 29, 2008, Dr. Huang, Wanda Rankin, Fred Ragsdale, Mike Matousek and I attended the AAMA quarterly meeting in Birmingham, Al. The first session included panel presentations from local project managers and operators of major automative players in our region. Most presenters focused on the importance of lean manufacturing and how beneficial it can be to time and cost savings. In addition, they discussed problems encoutered in their industry and how they utilize the 5s system to maintain a check and balance system to ensure that the business was ran as efficient and effective as possible. After the first session of the morning, we were able to meet with members of the panel and other members of the association to ask any questions about what was presented. Shortly after, lunch was served and we listened to another presentation discussing economic development.
